Step back in time to the 1860’s, hear the sounds of battle, the roar of cannons
as Union and Confederate troops clash again.
If you are planning on attending the Civil War reenactment here are some things to consider: If you have never been to a Civil War event before, then you are in for a treat. ** One word of Advise....Dogs will not be allowed at event...there are too many different and LOUD noises that could startle the poor creature...Best to leave them in the comfort of home.
The Civil War reenactors (men, women and children) you will encounter come from all over New England as well as New York, and further south. Our" regular life" occupations are diversified from landscapers and bank presidents to chemists and computer geeks. But for the weekend we are people caught up in the "Late unpleasantness". Reenactors portray military personnel (infantry, artillery, medical) along with Civil War era civilians and sutlers.
Will be on site throughout the weekend
We welcome you to visit the Federal (Union), the Confederate camps and the civilian Town of Unity. Listen to the soldiers and civilians and ask questions. Watch as soldiers make ready for battle, meals are prepared and daily "goings on" in the Town of Unity. Remember, this is our hobby and we can't wait to tell you about it. In fact, the hardest part will be to get us to stop talking about it. Please remember, the camps are our homes for the weekend. If a tent is closed please do not enter.
Sutlers are Civil War-era merchants. During the Civil War every regiment or brigade had a sutler licensed to follow along and sell "extras" to the men. These extras included food items, such as cans of sweetened condensed milk (a favorite with the men); to clothing, such as civilian-style shirts; to some items hidden away from the eyes of the Provost (military police). Modern sutlers (Merchants)now sell numerous items to the Reenactor as well as the Spectator.
